I feel like I’m pretty involved as far as what’s going on locally here in the Portland metro area. I listen to local radio and try to keep up on local events as much as possible. And although I technically live outside of the Portland boundaries, what happens in Portland still affects me and my family greatly. So for the purposes of this article I consider myself a Portlander.
I have to say, I am saddened and embarrassed for Portland these days. Along with spending millions of dollars on things people don’t want like light-rail and overhead trams, we in the northwest seem to have no discernment at all in the type of people we elect for office.

I knew from the day one (long before he ran for mayor) that Sam Adams was a swindler. Did I have proof? No, not exactly. But come on, we know who he is from his years on the city council and as commissioner where he did everything within his power to raise taxes, stop people from driving cars, bully local businesses, and aid illegals in getting jobs.
So should it be a shock when he comes out and tells us he lied about raping his underage intern Beau Breedlove?
Actually, it should be a shock…. We in Portland should be downright astounded and flabbergasted. But for some reason… I’m not that shocked. In fact, not shocked at all. Angry that he’s still in office? Maybe. But surprised? No. This doesn’t surprise me at all.
I’m just going to say it… we’re all thinking it anyway. The reason he’s not in prison is because he’s homosexual. But not just any homosexual, he’s the poster child for homosexuality in the northwest. And this was a ‘gay rape’. Because he’s gay, he can lie about the rape BEFORE he is elected. Then he can turn around and admit to lying about it AFTER the election. And for some reason the people of Portland don’t seem to care for the most part. (Portland is so ultra “PC”.) He seems to be getting a pass on it. I would think that the homosexual community should be up in arms right now because Sam has “tarnished” the gay reputation. But no, it appears they’re not really shocked either.
Side note: Just so we are clear about this. The issue in question here is NOT about being homosexual. We’re talking about Statutory RAPE. Sexual misconduct with a minor child. This is an act that would normally get a person serious prison time and a ‘sexual offender’ registration status.
His comments were “…. I know I have let you down and made mistakes. I ask your forgiveness. I believe I have a lot to offer the city I love during this time of important challenges.” Funny, it seems that the majority of the “Challenges” we’re facing right now are simply trying to hide our shame from his disgraceful actions.
Bottom line: Sam Adams seems to have some kind of a spell cast on the people of Portland. He apparently can do no wrong. Personally, I believe if he were not gay, and a city official, he would be in prison right now. Do people really believe that rape is OK if you’re homosexual? That can’t be true… can it? I challenge the gay community to do what’s right and publicly request (demand) Sam Adams’ resignation for breaking the law.
Is there any more hope for Portland? Yes, I believe so. But seriously, not if we keep electing people like this.
